Minimalism has been popular since the mid-20th century with its rise formulating in the countries of Scandinavia. Although these designs are beautiful, they often leave Asian minimalism over-looked and under-appreciated.  We hope to bring some awareness to this issue by introducing you to the lovely (small) and functional living that particularly Singaporean bedrooms offer the design world!

The Singaporean style, similar to the Asian style in general, is defined by light, neutral colours, lots of greenery and interior life, as well as minimal curating. Here at Homify, you can search for the Asian style in-general, or for any Asian country specifically with our easy search options!

Wood features

Wood is incredibly popular in Singaporean living and the light the better! This bedroom has taken wooden living to the next level by using a darker wood on the floor, matching wood for the bed and bed-side tabes and a white-washed wood for a partition behind the bed.  The use of triple stains of wood create a dynamic and quite  masculine look for this bedroom!

Functional with a bold palette

Combined living spaces can be quite beautiful and no one can do them better than Asian designers. With feature walls, bold contrasts and high-quality materials, this bedroom/living room combined is fantastic and multi-functional.  The combining of spaces allows one to watch television while in bed and positions the kitchen in a close-enough vicinity as for plenty of convenience.

Small-scale minimalism

Having a beautiful view, from a small apartment is the definition of Singaporean (and maybe even Asian) living. This bedroom contains everything you could possibly need for functional and stylish living including a neutral colour palette, light-grain wood and comfortable furnishings.

Window views as the design feature

Views, views and more views! In Asia, views bring balance, harmony and beauty to any home and where smaller-scale living is involved, this is a great blessing! Again, we have neutral colour palettes, wide windows and light-grain wood. Minimal in decor and living style, this bedroom is purely for those who want it to sleep and then to get out and get on with their day

Stick with track lighting

Using ceiling space is important in Singaporean living as the small-scale living won't allow for table and floor-lamps to be used as much without creating a cluttering effect.

Not only is track lighting used here, but the partition has a built-in industrial-style light for proof that attention was paid to the design details – and we love it!

Elevated and high-modernism

This elevated bed is a popular option in Singapore and provides both a comfortable sleeping space and plenty of storage. Notice the working area to the right – combined living spaces are all the rage in Asia because of their functinality and ease-of-use.

This bedroom is incredibly small, yet functional and has strictly stayed within a light and neutral colour palette. The rest of the home is just as neat and unique as this very bedroom and you can check out the rest of the Singaporean interior project here!

Symmetry and neutral colours

Lastly, this Singapore bedroom creates a more Western effect with the use of more colours, above-bed cabinetry storage.

The greenery in this bedroom is rather minimal – but check out this greenery and how much it changes the atmosphere of the space!
