The Exterior Plan

homify Modern Evler

This is a mock-up of the exterior of the building. Immediately, our eye is drawn to that lovely dormer window. A dormer window is any window that projects upward from a sloping roof. Sometimes they can be made quite complicated, but this single window adds an elegant and simple look to the exterior of this home. We can see that the architects have also included plans to incorporate more modern styles here, with the wooden paneling on the left side of the entry-way. The matching wooden door feels similarly modern with the vertical windows in and next to it. The design loops back to a traditional look with the gorgeous grey stonework on the right side of the building.

Living Room in Rich Chocolate

This is the finished living space, that is open to the back porch with tall glass doors. While the space feels bright and open, the designers weren't afraid to add some deep chocolate colour for a comforting feel. The floor's rug in middling brown tones fills the gap between the chocolate furniture and the pale walls. The result is a unified living space. It also feels quite modern, with the fireplace tucked stylishly into the wall, and the shiny and simple coffee table.

Dining in Lime

In keeping with the neat colour combinations, the dining space has been outfitted in a cool lime. From every angle of the home the large windows reveal some amazing green space, and the lime chairs bring that lively feeling into the home. The layout has been expertly designed so that there's enough room on any side of this table for people to walk around and for chairs to be pulled out. To the right, we can see that some fun texture has been added on dark oak wall. That's actually holds the fridge and some pantry space for the kitchen.

Peek into the Kitchen

The main floor continues to the left with an elegant kitchen in black and white. From this angle we can also see some little details that complete the home. The wall-art has a chic little light above it to draw emphasis to the canvas, especially at night. The house plant on the left is just one example of the green pots that dot the living space. There's also a pop of yellow in the kitchen, which also adds a lively sense to the space. One of our favourite parts of the home is the simple beige blinds that adjust easily to block out the sun. They add great function to the space and can keep it feeling cool in hot summers. We have a great selection of blinds and shutters in our gallery that will inspire you!

From the Back

Here is the mock-up the architects did of the rear of the house. It has a cute little back porch that we saw earlier behind the living room, looking traditional in the same wood used on the front of the house. Adding traditional elements sparsely through a house is a sure-fire way to made modern designs seem warmer and full of character.
