Today on homify we’re going to take a look at a small and cosy timber cabin, nestled in the Turkish countryside. However small in size, this holiday home will surely delight with its charming and quaint character. It packs plenty of personality within its four walls and tight constraints. Sometimes small and simple does the trick – if you're only going to be using a holiday home or country house from time to time, an ostentatious, flashy design can be a wasted expense.

This little number provides plenty of inspiration for building just that: a small, cost-effective, but lovely vacation abode. The single storey structure has a traditional weatherboard façade and a gently pitched roof, complete with front porch.

Let's take a closer look… .

The exterior facade

There's that charming exterior – exceedingly traditional, it looks as if this humble abode stepped out of the past and propped itself on this green country plot. The gentle pitch of the roof is accompanied by an intricately detailed barge feature, and the window and door joinery is equally detailed.

Timber, timber, timber

Timber is always a versatile material selection, suitable to varying climates, light-weight, and easily sourced. It's the perfect solution for tropical climates – Malaysia included – and more extreme, cold climates. No matter where you live, timber is likely a time-honoured and effective building material.

The interior

Inside, the timber continues to reign supreme. You're hard-pressed to find a single other material. Floors, walls, ceiling, doors, window joinery, and much of the furniture – it's all wood! It crafts a warm and cosy atmosphere that immediately exudes the charm of country living. If you have a penchant for rustic living spaces, then this one is sure to impress.

The bedroom

The bedroom is open to the main living area of the home, tucked away in a small nook. It's timber floor-to-ceiling, of course, and aside from that, not much else. Simple white bed furnishings match the sheer white curtains, and a dainty light fixture is the only moment of adornment. What else could you need in a beautiful and calm space of repose?!

The living space

The living area provides room for additional guests, or the kids, on the pullout sofa. Here, an unexpected pop of colour and kitschy pattern creeps into the space. That aside, it's the same M.O – all timber everything!
