A tower from the year 1000 located in the luxurious Tuscan countryside, in the Florence region, has been turned into a contemporary house, a gem with a breathtaking view, by the renovation project created and carried out by the Italian design firm Aeon Studio.

The renovation allowed to take advantage of the vertical dimension typical of the original structure of the tower, and to exploit its main features, like the solid stone walls, to create a cozy contemporary dwelling.

The solid stone walls are displayed as decoration motifs, emerging from the contemporary wooden panels used as cladding for the walls, bringing about the richness and the powerful texture of the ancient structure to balance the contemporary interiors created by Aeon Studio.

The contemporary approach to interior design, the ancient architectural elements and materials coexist creating an enchanted atmosphere. High-end finishes and Italian luxury brands details, the custom made furniture and tailored lighting design contribute in enhancing the fascination of this renovated four-storey tower.

1. Entryway and staircase

Right from the get-go it's possible to detect the main features of the renovation project set out by Aeon Studio for this four-storey tower: the bare structure of the solid stone wall is on display, as an atmospheric background for the aerial wooden staircase, complementing the wood covering of the other wall.

2. The relevance of lighting design

The relevance of the customised lighting design is on display in the entryway. Multiple led lights emerge from the wooden wall, projecting downward their beams, while iron suspension lamps hang from the ceiling with their bare, minimal structure.

3. The master bedroom

The master bedroom features a nordic-inspired bed, a wooden ceiling painted in white to enhance the bright, relaxing atmosphere. The solid stone walls open the room to the lush surroundings of the Tuscan countryside.

3.1 The master bedroom

On the opposite side of the master bedroom we find a long shelf used both as a desk and as a dressing table.

4. The living room

The highlight of the house is the fourth floor open space: as we can see, there are windows on every side, with a breathtaking view outlooking the countryside. The interior design is built around the imposing presence of the view, with a living room area identified by grey couches and a central swivel, hanging fireplace.

6. The kitchen

The open space set out by the renovation project at the fourth floor is integrated by the minimal layout of the kitchen, with a large wooden table and transparent, iconic plastic chairs.
