With so much access to computer technology, it can be difficult for parents to regulate the amount of stimulation their children receive each day. To help improve focus and imagination, many parents encourage their children to read books in addition to playing games on the iPad or watching programs on TV. One family even went to the length of creating a kid-friendly library in their apartment in Daegu, and the result is quite delightful.

This newly remodelled home contains more family friendly features than the bookshelf, too. The memo blackboard in the kitchen, for instance, serves as a fun way for the family to stay on the same page. Meanwhile, the home contains an array of different built in shelving systems for better organisation in their hectic family life. Even the cheerful timber tones used throughout make it feel cosy and inviting. Of course, we have to thank the architects at And Company for designing this marvellous little abode.

The star attraction

The library consists of a large expanse of built-in shelving along with an L-shaped bench area. This setup is ideal for family time because there is plenty of space both for books and people.

The track lights hung overhead provide plenty of illumination. On warmer days, they can also take the reading onto the small balcony situated just outside of this room.

Petit kitchen

This L-kitchen also works as a divider between the cooking space and the rest of the apartment. It is not very big, but there is easily enough counter space for preparing home cooked meals.

The shelves and cupboards are sufficient storage areas whose presence doesn’t detract from the look of the rest of the space.

Breakfast bar and other fun details

This breakfast bar allows the family to enjoy meals together, and offers a good setup for monitoring their little one as he eats. Plus, the bar is multifunctional as it can also be used for additional storage.

We also love this fun family message chalkboard, complete with cute magnets for the little one.

Shades of purple

The TV room is decorated in various shades of violet. A muted lavender colour wallpaper is used on the walls, and there are deeper purple cushions in front of the television unit.

The TV stands on a vintage chest that gives the space a more modern flair.

Bedroom with a place for everything

The bedroom is simple and decorated in pale timber hues, which is a typical element of Korean interior style. This time, the built in shelving houses the family’s myriad clothing items, from mum to dad to baby. Everything fits neatly into the compartments, leaving the rest of the space tidy and inviting.

With all of its thoughtful little details, this is the perfect home for a budding family. For more info about how you can prep your home for family life, check out this guide to planning a family friendly home
